Beaufort Updates: Pat, Sarah and Elliana visit

Dan and I were so excited to have Sarah, Pat and EJ visit us here in Beaufort.

Look how big Elliana is!

Sarah squared.

Look at that smile! Allowing a child to play in a puddle after a quick SC rain shower is worth the outfit change.

Beaufort Updates: Wine tasting and Firefly distillery

As always, my wonderful husband Dan...also my DD.

My friend Joel,

and myself, went to Irving Hill winery and Firefly vodka distillery in Charlseton, SC for some tasting.

Beaufort Updates: Another day at Hunting Island Beach

Another day at the beach. This was right after Hurricaine Irene came through. Lots of down palm trees and sea shells in the sand, churned up water with clear skies.

Roxy came with us this time again, got some good swim time in.

When she started to get tired, but still wanted to go in, we put on her life preserver. Wouldn't you know there is a handle on the back of it. I could carry her around like she was a new purse.

Just like she did in the back yard at our old house in Bethlehem when we laid out, right under the chair she goes.

Roxy figured out that she could dig a spot for her head in the sand under my chair. Nevermind the two big beach umbrellas that we bought for shade.

Beaufort Updates: Party night

Night out with Eric at Panini's.

Beaufort updates; Jackie's visit

So a lot has happenned in the past couple of months. My friend Jackie came down to visit. She was our second guest in our home here in Beaufort.

Jackie drove 13 hours straight after a full 12 hour shift at work to come and visit us for the weekend. We visited downtown Beaufort and ate dinner at the Wren for the first time. (Very good food, great white sangrias too!)

We shopped in Savannah, GA all day long on Saturday along the riverfront. We stopped by a Vespa dealer and I fell in love with a scooter that I will never buy.

We layed out at Hunting Island beach on Sunday. Saw and touched my first sand shark that day.

Thank you for visiting us Jackie! See you soon.

Beaufort, SC

Ice cream by the marina. Don't worry, Roxy had her own.

Hunting Island Beach Day. The water felt like bath water and the beach felt like it would melt your feet off. It was a beautiful day even though a bug bit my ankle and drew blood.

Roxy loved the water, she went swimming more than we did.

ODS Part 6- Graduation

There aren't many pictures from when I started. I remember standing at attention for 3.5 hours with my urine sample above my left shoulder, many hours of standing in the back of class to stay awake, taking 3 hours to make my rack and my roommates rack while being interrupted for questions, finally laying down in bed and hearing a knock at the door every night, PT twice a day with constant leg cramping, 4 flights of stairs x 12, galley salads, 6-10 bottles of water a day, pushups gallore and lots of paperwork. If you ask me if I loved it...absolutely! I would do it all over again without blinking.

Shannon was able to make it through the ceremony but was in the bathroom vomiting afterwards from food poisoning.

Due to the weather, the graduation was inside, this was the view we were going to have if held outside.

Little update......
Dan and I are currently living in a hotel in Beaufort, SC. I found a spider the size of my palm in the room today and ran into a roach on our walk and maintained composure. Looking for a home to rent currently. I work in the APU/PACU and have requested to deploy when available.

ODS Part 5- The Banquet the Night Prior to Graduation

I claimed the right of first, first salute to our Chief Hartsell.

One more night before Graduation!

ODS Part 4 Boston

So our last week of ODS we were allowed off base leave. The girls and  myself drove to Boston for the weekend. It was so nice to let our hair down for a couple days and to enjoy little things in life that were taken away from us. The things I enjoyed the most were: a bathmat to step out on, comfortable pillows and blankets, and phone reception.

It may be silly, but I am proud of my guns. I started out doing 13 pushups and left doing 54 on my last PRT, maxing out my score.

Chelsea here on my left. A couple of us went on a trolley tour. We learned so much and were able to see so many things in Boston. I learned that you can get pulled over twice in one day and not get a ticket either time. (Once was in a taxi and the other I went down a one way by accident because I was lost. I didn't learn this on the trolley ride though)

Best part of the trip was the tour of the USS Constitution. Absolutely amazing.

We were caught in a rainstorm on our tour, but as you can see by the time the tour was over so were the passing clouds.

ODS Part 3 Newport

Here's Lindsey. We are in Newport again and we can eat sweets! I think we went a little overboard, but it was sooo good.

Here's my girl Angelica. Best dancing buddy ever (other than Dan). We had some interesting comments from men, "I bet you look hot in your civies"

Fabumni, aka Fabulous on the left can sing an amazing cadence.
