Beaufort, SC

Ice cream by the marina. Don't worry, Roxy had her own.

Hunting Island Beach Day. The water felt like bath water and the beach felt like it would melt your feet off. It was a beautiful day even though a bug bit my ankle and drew blood.

Roxy loved the water, she went swimming more than we did.

ODS Part 6- Graduation

There aren't many pictures from when I started. I remember standing at attention for 3.5 hours with my urine sample above my left shoulder, many hours of standing in the back of class to stay awake, taking 3 hours to make my rack and my roommates rack while being interrupted for questions, finally laying down in bed and hearing a knock at the door every night, PT twice a day with constant leg cramping, 4 flights of stairs x 12, galley salads, 6-10 bottles of water a day, pushups gallore and lots of paperwork. If you ask me if I loved it...absolutely! I would do it all over again without blinking.

Shannon was able to make it through the ceremony but was in the bathroom vomiting afterwards from food poisoning.

Due to the weather, the graduation was inside, this was the view we were going to have if held outside.

Little update......
Dan and I are currently living in a hotel in Beaufort, SC. I found a spider the size of my palm in the room today and ran into a roach on our walk and maintained composure. Looking for a home to rent currently. I work in the APU/PACU and have requested to deploy when available.

ODS Part 5- The Banquet the Night Prior to Graduation

I claimed the right of first, first salute to our Chief Hartsell.

One more night before Graduation!

ODS Part 4 Boston

So our last week of ODS we were allowed off base leave. The girls and  myself drove to Boston for the weekend. It was so nice to let our hair down for a couple days and to enjoy little things in life that were taken away from us. The things I enjoyed the most were: a bathmat to step out on, comfortable pillows and blankets, and phone reception.

It may be silly, but I am proud of my guns. I started out doing 13 pushups and left doing 54 on my last PRT, maxing out my score.

Chelsea here on my left. A couple of us went on a trolley tour. We learned so much and were able to see so many things in Boston. I learned that you can get pulled over twice in one day and not get a ticket either time. (Once was in a taxi and the other I went down a one way by accident because I was lost. I didn't learn this on the trolley ride though)

Best part of the trip was the tour of the USS Constitution. Absolutely amazing.

We were caught in a rainstorm on our tour, but as you can see by the time the tour was over so were the passing clouds.

ODS Part 3 Newport

Here's Lindsey. We are in Newport again and we can eat sweets! I think we went a little overboard, but it was sooo good.

Here's my girl Angelica. Best dancing buddy ever (other than Dan). We had some interesting comments from men, "I bet you look hot in your civies"

Fabumni, aka Fabulous on the left can sing an amazing cadence.

ODS Part 2

So here is the view from our window that I was telling you about!

My second time to the O-club, but first to enjoy drinks with friends. Here I am with Sarah to my left and Shannon to my right.

Freedom!

Paul and Josh.

Here are the girls and myself in Newport, RI eating out. Lobster and cider, I was in heaven.

ODS Part 1

So it's been a while since I updated my page. Welcome back technology...I have lots to catch everyone up on. I was recently in RI for the past 5 weeks at ODS (Officer Development School). This is where I stayed. My first and only roommate Shannon and I moved twice during our stay. Above is what our room looked like. Though the first room had better maintained furnature, the second and final room had an amazing waterfront view that topped all of the broken items/door that we had to wedge shut every night to keep closed.

You'll learn quick that the uniforms in the Navy are not meant to be attractive in any way and that we are one team. This is what we wore on the first two days to unify our group until we had our PT gear.

This is Shannon, my other half. We were a match right from the get go. Shannon said, "when I smile my eyes dissapear," I replied, "thats ok, when I smile my lips dissapear." As I recall, she is the one that said that I would make a good ADIVO and inspired me to sign up. For the next 5 weeks, I was the acting ADIVO, she my AO, below, my DIVO.

This is Kenny, the DIVO. The three of us made a good team, we had an awesome and fun company...LIMA Co. Wait there's more!
